Check your NBN technology
Before choosing a plan, check what NBN technology is available at your address using the official NBN lookup tool: https://www.nbnco.com.au.
This will tell you whether you have FTTP, FTTN, FTTC or Fixed Wireless.

| Technology | Description | Suitable speeds |
|---|---|---|
| FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) | Fibre runs all the way into your building. Delivers the highest reliability and speeds. | Up to 2000 Mbps plans |
| FTTN (Fibre to the Node) | Fibre to a nearby street cabinet; existing copper for the last leg. Speed depends on line quality. | Up to 100/20 or 100/40 |
| FTTC (Fibre to the Curb) | Fibre is closer to your premises than FTTN; copper covers only a few metres. | Up to 100/20 or 100/40 |
| Fixed Wireless (FW) | Uses NBN’s wireless towers to connect regional & rural locations. | Up to 400/40 |

A fee of up to $10,000 may be charged for specialty connections that require technology upgrades for premises where NBN has already been installed.
Contact us for more information.
Install Fee is waived if nbn™ needs to be installed or if an nbn™ technician is required to go onsite when choosing a 36-month contract.
FTTP Plans – fibre to the premises
FTTP means a fibre optic cable runs directly inside your premises. Inside, you’ll find an NTD (Network Termination Device) — this is the box that connects your premises to the NBN network
Your modem/router needs to be plugged into the UNI-D port (1) on this box using an ethernet cable to access the internet.
What the FTTP NTD looks like:
For Residential – A white or cream wall-mounted box, usually installed in the garage, master bedroom, a built-in wardrobe, or living room. If you’re in an apartment building and can’t locate it, check with building management — every unit should have its own NTD installed inside the property.
For Business – The same white or cream wall-mounted box, usually installed in your communicatios cabinet or designated area. Some Buildings with Multiple Suites may have the device in a common Communications Cupboard or Room.

If the NTD is missing, a technician appointment will be scheduled when activating your Approved Systems service to have one installed

FTTN Plans – fibre to the node
Fibre to a nearby street cabinet; existing copper for the last leg. Speed depends on line quality.
The termination point to your premises will be a RJ12 Socket (using one of your original old style telephone wall sockets). Your modem/router will need to have a DSL port to connect the Internet.

FTTC Plans – fibre to the curb
FTTC connections bring fibre to a small pit near your property, and the final link to your home uses copper cabling. This setup includes an NCD (Network Connection Device) inside your premises.
The FTTC NCD is also location-coded, which means it must stay at the address it was assigned to. Bringing one from another location will not work.

You’ll need to plug the NCD into a phone wall socket and connect your modem/router to it using an ethernet cable.

Fixed Wireless Plans

An antenna will be installed on the roof of your premises and linked to a Fixed Wireless Network Termination Device (NTD). The NTD will resemble a standard FTTP setup. It will feature ports NCD-1 through NCD-4, which can be connected to your router using an Ethernet cable.
